review for But Not for Me by J.S. Cook

Title: But Not For Me (March 18 2013)
Author: J. S. Cook
Genre:  MM , historical (gangster, Prohibition era)
Length: Novel (310 pages)
Publisher:  Dreamspinner Press
Heart: 4
Heat: moderate
Blurb:    Gangster Nino Moretti’s world is a series of contrasts between extreme wealth and abject poverty, an unstable existence punctuated by booze and bullets. For Nino, the gangster lifestyle is even more dangerous because he is a finnochio—a gay man—in a position of absolute power at the head of his own criminal organization.

When Nino rescues beautiful mob accountant Stanley Zadwadzki from a violent assault at the hands of sadistic rival gangster Big Frank O’Hara, both Nino and Stanley become hunted men. Stanley places himself under Nino’s protection as Nino’s accountant and unofficial companion. As a warning, Frank murders Nino’s office boy. In a quest for revenge, Nino tracks Frank to Little Italy, where the resulting confrontation forces him to shoot a bystander to protect Stanley. With a gang war looming, Nino must set aside his feelings and concentrate on asserting his superiority over Big Frank—or lose everything he holds most dear.
Reviewer: Cat
Review: Nino is a mobster. I guess you can say he is a good bad guy. He sees Stanley and is immediately smitten, but can also tell that he is being abused by the other mob leader Frank. When Frank humiliates and strikes Stanley in public Nino grabs him and takes him under his protection. Stanley is a bit confused and still a bit leery. He feels that Nino must want something from him for all the good things he is doing for him. Feelings grow in both men. Can Stanley love Nino? Does Nino love Stanley or just want him for a toy? Do gang wars break out over Nino stealing Frank’s boy-toy?
I liked this one a lot.  I bounced back and forth on and off the fence between liking and loving on this one. By the time it ended I decided I loved it. I found the story was very interesting, with lots of action.
I liked the way Nino treated Stanley so lovingly, with respect and you could see how bad he wanted him but  how important it was to him that Stanley came to him of his own desires not because  Nino was his boss or doing things for him.
All the characters were very deep and interesting. There were times though I felt the story got a bit draggy, but then it would pick back up nicely.

Recommendation:  If you like gangster stories, Bad Guy  main characters, Prohibitions era stories, complicated relationships, losts of action and some sweet loving man-sex, give this one a try.

Review: Richard fought with his one true love Grady since he was sixteen. Richard lost his life fighting for freedom for all the other slaves.  Richard continues his fight and has decided to offer a runaway slave his freedom and a choice. He hope he will teach him the  ins and outs of sex so he can  join up with another person to  show his allegiance but since all he ever knew was Grady he wasn’t experienced and didn’t want to appear vulnerable and week.  But does Denny show him more than he bargained for?
OH WOW. This story was sad but sometimes in a good way also.  Just when you thought you knew where it was going BAM you were in for a big surprises.  The love Richard and Grady had was so sweet. Al love we call only wish for and yet it had its problems also.  Then along comes Denny, a hot, sexy slave that was also strong and willing to fight for what he believed in.  The new love between him and Richard was so hot and still so loving.  So sigh worthy!  This is way  up on my favorite lists!
Recommendations: If you like settings where the world has gone through changes, Slavery being  fought, revolutions, freedom fighters, stories with a lot of angst but still loving relationships, hot steamy mansex, a love that won’t die, twists and turns. This one is Fabulous!

review for Catching Fireflies by KC Kendricks

Title:  Catching Fireflies
Series: Follows Between the Moon and The Deep Blue Sea- though it stands alone.
Author: KC Kendricks
Genre:  MM contemporary
Length: Novella (20,000 words)
Publisher:  Amber Allure Press
Heart: 5
Heat: explicit
Blurb: Sequel to the Amber Allure best-seller Between the Moon and the Deep Blue Sea...

Dale Langley longs for some triple R time—rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. He accepts his cousin’s invitation to winter over on Ocracoke Island, far away from the hustle and bustle of life on the mainland. He’s always loved being a rolling stone, traveling for his job without the worry of a place to call home, but it’s time for something different. Now Dale anticipates several blissful months to learn how to be still with no demands on his time while he prepares for the next phase of his life.

Aubrey Zimmerman came to Ocracoke to attend a friend’s commitment ceremony. Never one to settle down, Aubrey’s had enough of involvements that took him from man to man without a place to call home. He needs a break—and a little solitude. Housesitting while his friend is on his honeymoon is the perfect way to clear his head and catch up on his sleep. At least it seemed that way until Dale arrived and Aubrey realized sleep is the last thing he needs.

Fate has changes in store for Dale and Aubrey, the sort neither one knew they wanted. Sometimes the more you wander the closer to home you get.

Review: This is a story about Dale that has been through a beating and robbery. He lost his job for taking off too much time recuperating and wasn’t Dale to drive and stuff to travel for work  like he needed to.  He goes to Ocracoke Island where he  used to spend his summers and is going to stay the winter with his cousin Sam to try to get his head  cleared and perhaps find a new job and place to stay. He meets Aubrey that use to live with older rich guys, basically was a kept man. He is leaving his ex and that leaves him with no job no real skills and no home. He comes to Ocracoke to attend his friend Chads commitment ceremony and housesit while they are on their honeymoon.
I found this story well written, the characters all very interesting and the story hard to put down once I started. Well I dint put it down I finish in one sitting.  Both Aubrey and Dale are dealing with some heavy stuff. Aubrey keeps warning Dale not to get attached and Dale knows he shouldn’t or that Aubrey shouldn’t get attached to him either.  The other characters were all interesting also though not a lot was mention of them just in passing.  The first book is Chad and his partner’s story and since Chad and Aubrey are connected I am sure he is in that one too.  This book stands perfectly on its own and I had no clue it was a sequel until the end when it told about the other book.  Of course I will be reading it too! Great story here and I can’t wait to see if there is more!
Recommendation: If you like stories of starting over, Rich men, men on the mend, Hot mansex this one is really good!

Review:Randolph left his partner and son for their own protection two years ago.  Now the person after him has decided to use his family to get him to come back. Leland thinks Randolph stopped loving him and left for someone else but didn’t tell this to Grady.
I love Edward Kendrick and all his stories. This one didn’t disappoint. The characters are very likeable and the storyline was exciting and suspenseful. My only trouble was it was a bit too short. I would have liked to seen a bit more action once Randolph came back and also more between Grady and Megan and if Randolph and Leland worked things out. I bet there will be another book and I will definitely be looking for it.
Recommendations: If you like action and suspense, A story with lots of angst, retired policemen, doctors, mystery, true love, this one is for you.

Review: Allison is a psychic and a healer, she has had some issues in her past and doesnt  allow her self to get close to a man. Logan is empathic but doenst know a lot about it. he has visions and has locked himself in a playboy image to keep from gettign hurt and his visions to come true. Bothe Allison and Logan feel somehtign when they meet each other.
This story hasa avery good storyline and the characters are all pretty amazing if not too good to be true. but that is what romantic fiction is right?  I am going to say what I didnt like aobut this story first then go on with  what i did.  First off there was a lot of repetitveness. I felt like i was reading ghe same thing over and over quite a bit, and there were a lot of things happen that did not add at all to the story. I felt this story  could have been cut almost in half and been mch better.  Having said that,  the subject of the empath and physci andgoshts were all very interesting the sex was hot ( again very repetitive and a the romance a bit  lovey dovey too mushy but all in all a very good basic romance  wiht a paranormal twist . I do recomend this book to paranormal romance lovers especilly if you like  a basic  boy meets girl  falls in love Happy ever after story.

Recommendations: If you like a good paranormal romance, that is hot and sexy, has natural healing, spirits,  hot sexy rich men, Mediums, and a great suspenseful story  this one is for you!

Review: Derek met Doug online and since he had to attend his cousin’s wedding in the town Doug lived in he decides to meet Doug.  He is in an open relationship with Blake, but still looking for more and the lure of sex and drugs is too much for him.  At a party Doug takes him to he meets the owner of the house Leonard that wants him to go away with him to Florida and live.
I found this a very poignant sad story of loneliness. Though Leonard had  a big house and big parties and good drugs he was a very lonely man.  I goes to show us that we all search for something and need something in our lives that on the surface seems we have it all.. A lovely thought provoking story.
Recommendations: If you like a more serious story  of drugs, promiscuous sex, open relationships, and angst this one is for you.

Review: Dew pretty much like his sex vanilla and is not into fetish or bondage at all. He hasn’t been laid in a while, so he gives in at his friend Sean’s urging to join him at a fetish camp that weekend featuring pony play.
This was a fast paced well written story about a man that gives in to go experiment with his friend. I sort of had it all figured out that it was a way to for his friend to get him to have sex with him.  I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome.  I was totally unfamiliar with the fetish of pony play and found this story explained it very well without being overly technical or teachy.  The story was good, and  the sex very hot. If your wanting to learn more of some of the fetishes out there this is a good place to start.  I enjoyed the book!
Recommendations: If you  like fetish, especially pony play, light bondage, and hot MM sex this one is for you.

Jovan and Galen click the moment they meet. But their match made in heaven could be ruined by a man from Galen's past.
Reviewer: Cat
Review: Galen and Jovan’s moms both love them very much but they both want their sons to find love and move on.  Jovan’s mom has put a lonely hearts add in the paper and Galen's mom replies to it for Galen.  Jovan’s mom has a party for Galen inviting some of the replies and Galen and Jovan hit it off immediately.
Ok so this story was good. It had a lot of promise and is a very basic boy meets boy falls in love at first site, hits a bump and happy ever after.  It’s very sugary sweet with some very hot loving so you can’t really go wrong if you’re looking for a nice romance to make you go ahh! I loved all the characters even the moms. I though they about stole the show!!  I loved Galen’s quirks and Jovan is the classic gotta love hot male. I also loves the touch of humor. Now for the things I didn’t like so much.  #1  they were so opposite there would be some clashing, Jovan’s messing and masculine and Galen  was overly compulsive on cleaning though  not a tiff or word ensued there.  Then along comes Galen’s ex Johnny flashing fancy sports cars for Galen.  Jovan gets a bit  jealous but that’s about it even when he follows  and issue ensue he  basically shrugs it off and even helps Johnny? *shakes head* Then there is all the man ogling from all the characters. They even tease about Galen’s assistant and Johnny’s boyfriend that he brings along when he is trying to win over Galen. Like I said before it’s a great story but oh so sweet  unbelievably sweet!
Recommendations: If you like syrupy sweet romance, meddling Moms that mean well, love at first sight,  fast cars and hot men this one is for you

Review: Phoenix wakes up with a strange man in her bed and finds she has married him. He begs for a chance to convince her that they are destined to be together that none in his family has divorced in 300 years.  She slowly accepts she has feelings for him but still wishes she could remember the night they supposedly married.
This story is your typical Cinderella romance, the perfect man ( prince charming and the woman that has had a rough life and wants to chase her dreams) he modern day twist  mixed with folklore and  fairy tales is charming and sweet.  I loved all the characters and the story is a classic who doesn’t dream of a man that loves you.

Recommendation: If you like a Cinderella type sweet romance, complete with princes, and castles and kingdoms, toss in  a modern day setting, with a strong female lead, that is afraid to follow her heart and  accept her prince charming,  lots of sensuous romance you will love this one.

You`d think that getting the upper hand with Hades, god of the Grecian underworld, would have given Ares and me the luxury of a vacation. We could have used some time to unwind and discover the wonders of being newly in love. It would have been super to spend our days relaxing with my dairy goats, chickens, dog, cat, Hereford, and George, the loveable Greek ‘bison ‘, who all call my twelve acres in the mountains of Pennsylvania 'home.'

But no, we don`t get a vacation. What we get is another round of battling creatures from Greek mythology: visiting members of Ares` family who reek of goat buck, nights filled with horrific dreams, teenage goddesses, mortal boys, shocking revelations, and a worldwide search for what may be the only thing to defeat Hades and save the world as we know it.
